Creating a product brand ready for export, in addition to the quality and type of product that must meet the needs of international customers, packaging design for export is the heart of the business. Apart from using corrugated paper boxes or molded paper packaging to protect against damage during transportation, packaging should also add value to the product itself.
Packaging Design for Export
There are several types of packaging for export products. If we classify them, we can divide them into three main categories:
1. Packaging classified by the physical characteristics of the product, such as durable or non-durable goods.
2. Classified by purpose of use, such as industrial goods and consumer goods. Common packaging we are familiar with includes food packaging or packaging for food and beverages in various forms.
3. Classified by customer purchasing behavior, such as retail or pack purchases or buying in bulk.
Techniques and Design for Export Packaging
For export packaging design, if considering materials and structure, there are 7 main principles to follow in the design:
1. Packaging should be designed to be strong enough for international transportation to prevent damage from impacts. Corrugated boxes or other protective materials should be designed for extra durability.
2. The design should consider the size of the packaging and the volume of transportation vehicles, ensuring it is suitable for conditions in the destination country.
3. Consider the storage conditions and handling methods during transportation and delivery at the destination country.
4. Choose packaging materials that comply with the regulations of the importing country and align with the preferences of consumers in various countries. For example, food and beverage packaging should be environmentally friendly or biodegradable.
5. Incorporate innovative designs that are modern and help reduce product damage during international transport.
6. If shipping by air, packaging must comply with international air transport regulations and should be of good quality.
7. Have knowledge and understanding of the types of containers commonly used for international transportation to design accordingly, such as corrugated boxes for lightweight shipping, wooden crates secured with nails for sea freight, and paper drums for popular export products.
These techniques help ensure that the export packaging is of high quality. The packaging is not only important for transportation or minimizing damage during shipment, but all types of packaging, including molded paper or pulp mold, also contribute to making our products more appealing, which influences customer purchase decisions as well.
